The best place to start is with Salvation Army Employment Plus - they have an Indigenous Employment Consultant who can really help you with getting a job that’s right for you. Another organisation called Aboriginal Employment Strategy is an employment group run by Aboriginal people for Aboriginal people. They have an office in Blacktown and can work with you to help you to get and keep a job. If you’re interested in an apprenticeship or traineeship contact Workline Employment they have a program called STEPS that’s about assisting Aboriginal young people getting into a trade or traineeship call them on 47 212 099 There’s also the local Job Network Providers who have heaps of jobs see them listed on this website on the jobs page Western Sydney Community Aboriginal Corporation can let you know about jobs that might suit you. Contact them on 9832 3326 TAFE Aboriginal Unit Western Sydney Institute can link you up to one of their courses that will put you on-track for a job. Call the Unit on 9208 7018 There’s also the NSW Indigenous Network which is an email group that you can sign onto employers post job vacancies here Email: NSWIndigenousnetwork@yahoogroups.com To find out about jobs in the NSW Public Service there is a weekly employment listing to find out call Indigenous Employment Listing on 02 9228 5423 New Careers For Aboriginal People NCAP programs are staffed by Aboriginal people who are in touch with the needs of Aboriginal communities and have good contacts with employers, business groups and training providers within the local area. Your local NCAP officer can help you plan your future career by looking at what you like to do and trying to find a job that suits you. The NCAP program is funded by the NSW Department of Education and Training and is a FREE service. You can contact our local NCAP program on 9677 1699 their office is in Mt Druitt. Indigenous Job Market This major annual event brings together employers, Indigenous jobseekers, Job Network Members, TAFE, Universities, Group Training Organisations and government agencies with the aim of linking Indigenous Australians with jobs and training. The Indigenous Jobs Market regularly attracts over 700 Indigenous Jobseekers and around 50 employers and agencies. Jobseekers talk to employers about current jobs and training opportunities. The business and financial sector will be encouraged to support Indigenous businesses by providing tailored products and services which will support Indigenous business development.
