Homework, Study and Brainpower Sites

We’ve collected a list of Homework Help sites – you most likely have your own favourite sites – and we’d love to hear about what works for you. Take a look at  the section on Study Tips under the School menu on this website as well for some more great sites. Also check out the list below of “How to Study” sites – sometimes it’s hard to know how to start a project, how to get organised - these sites can help with all that plus more and are especially useful for students in Years 10-12.

With so much information available on the internet it’s easy to get lost in your research, go off on tangents and generally become sidetracked.

When using the internet for study and research – remember to bookmark great sites when you find them under a heading that makes sense to you. Coming back to a good, reputable site that you can use for a number of subjects can save you heaps of time.

Do you find yourself taking all night to do what should take you only an hour? How about turning off your Instant Messaging and mobile phone and other distractions – just for an hour or two, that way you’ll be able to focus on the work you need to do. Use your IM and phone to reward yourself after a period of good uninterrupted study.

Be mindful of your sources, while Wikipedia may be accurate most of the time – it can be wildly inaccurate simply because of the way it is created. Stick to reputable sources, always list your sources and don’t plagiarise – teachers can tell when you copy huge slabs of work from the internet!!
